our elopement...the ceremony

when i first got engaged, before we decided to elope,
my mom asked me where i wanted to get married.
now as you know, this was not something i ever really thought much about.
kind of stumped i told her i wasn't sure and she asked me about places that i have been to that i've felt the happiest....and instantly i said by the ocean.

when johnny and i first started dating a hundred years ago
(okay almost 10 years ago)
i had only been on a plane when i was like four...which doesn't really count.
only a very short time into our relationship
johnny was off to sunny san diego for school and so my first "real" plane ride was to visit him...
and the first time i saw the ocean was when we went to coronado beach to watch the sunset.
it was so magical and i remember thinking that nothing bad can ever happen staring out at the waves.

so the decision was made...
we would get married on coronado beach
with the ocean waves in the background and sand in our shoes.

our elopement...the prep

you know when you are a little girl...
and you dream of meeting your prince charming...
and having a fabulous wedding...
and you know exactly how you want your dress to look, and the flowers you want, and what flavor the cake will be and in your head it's all perfect...

well...
i was not that girl!
to be honest, before i met johnny the thought of getting married was not something that i really even thought about.
i guess sometimes all you need is to meet
"the one"
that changes everything!

and as you know from our
we've been together almost 10 years...
and because our lives have been soooo crazy this year
we decided to skip out on the stress and drama that sometimes comes with planning a big wedding
and instead, ran off to san diego and ELOPED!!

it was the most perfect weekend and we are
sooooo happy with our decision...
our wedding day was exactly how we wanted it to be...
just about the two of us and our love...
and i can't believe today we've been married one month!!

so over the next week i'll be sharing pics from our special day
that were taking by the amazing

enjoy...

most everything at our elopement was diy including
johnny's boutonniere and my bouquet which was full of mrd flowers!!

i also wore two different headpieces to go with my two dresses...my first piece included lace from my mom's wedding veil.

seriously how cute are these cupcakes!!!

and speaking of dresses...for the ceremony i wore...
my mom's wedding dress!!
never in a million years did i think i would be wearing the same dress that my mom wore to her wedding...
but when i tried it on and it was a perfect fit, i knew it was meant to be...
then i changed into a cute short lace dress for later.

our first look...johnny knew i was wearing my mom's dress, but had no idea what it looked like...

he loved it....
make sure and check back this week for more pics from our
elopement!
