marie kondo...and 7 bags of clothes...

So we're a week into the new year and it's already been full of craziness!  Last weekend I was in NYC with the hubs...which I'll fill you in on soon...and this weekend I'm off to Dallas for work!  And instead of napping in my free time,
which is all I really want to do right now thanks to the stupid cedar floating around the texas air, I've been tidying up my life.

Unless you live under a rock I'm sure you've either watched the new netflix show with Marie Kondo, or have seen someone on your insta feed with piles of garbage bags full of clothes.  My sister posted a pic of her bed with a mountain of clothes on it which made me think, okay what is this KonMari madness all about.  So I watched a few episodes and suddenly felt the urge to purge...and now I can't stop!!
The whole concept is basically getting rid of anything that doesn't spark joy in your life.  So last night I marched right into my closet and went to town.  Now I didn't pile all my clothes on my bed because I use the walk in closet in our guest bedroom (which doesn't actually have a bed) and was too lazy to schlep all my clothes to the other bedroom...but after about an hour I had 7 overflowing garbage bags full of clothes to donate...and I hadn't even gone through my drawers, shoes, or accessories yet!!
And it just made me realized that I need to slow my roll on the clothes buying.  I think it's so easy to get wrapped up in buying things because they're on sale, or because you had a bad day and need a little pick me up, but I still had some things with tags on it and several things that I wore only once and that did not make me feel joyful.  It kind of made me feel like a spoiled brat.  There are so many people that have nothing and here I am with 7 bags full of stuff.  So I've decided that it's time to take a little break from spending and wear the items that I've kept in my closet that do bring me joy.  And when I do purchase something in the future to be smart about it and not just buy it because it was a good deal...like this cheetah shirt.  It looked so cute online, and was on sale...but honesty I don't think I love it...and that might be because I'm not a huge fan of how I styled it, but it also just might be because it doesn't bring me joy.  The struggle is real my friends!  Let me know if you've watched any of Marie's show or if you have a huge pile of clothes to donate as well so I don't feel so bad!  And have a fabulous weekend pretties!!
