Another weekend...gone too soon...and here we are again with Monday.  So want to know a random fun fact about me?  Well it's not actually fun...it kinda sucks actually...my name is Melis, and I have sinusitis.  What is this weird word you ask?  Basically it means I get sinus infections...a lot...like a lot a lot.  This all started probably about 6 years ago.  I would get horrible pain in my face...like someone just punched me and then ran over my face with their truck...like a big truck.  And every time I went to my dr. he would do the same thing...look in my nose, look in the throat and say, "yeah it's really red and swollen, you have a sinus infection"...ugh no shit dude.  It got to the point where I would have them multiple times a month...and I tried all the meds and nose sprays and nothing seemed to help.

And then I moved to Texas...and little did I know that San Antonio is like the WORST PLACE EVER for people with sinus and allergy problems.  Probably should have done some research on that one because all of a sudden I kept having all of these problems I never had before...headaches, and rashes, and cracking in my face...yes I could literally hear it cracking...and the worse part is I had just gotten used to feeling like shit at some point pretty much every day.  It was rare that in the past 6 years I've had one day where I have felt good all day long.  I basically have just been living with all of these symptoms and it's become my new normal...which sucks, because who wants to live like that?

Well the good news it that I finally found an ENT here that gets it and after having a new CT scan and seeing how messed up my face actually is, this week I'm having a fun little procedure done called balloon sinuplasty.  So basically I'm relying on some balloons to fix my horribly jacked up face and while there is no guarantee that this will help, fingers crossed this will be exactly what I need.  And then when you see me smiling in my blog pics you will know that I don't secretly feel like total shit and like someone is kicking my skull in.  I can't even imagine what a "normal" face pain free day feels like, but hopefully on friday I will find out...and celebrate with champs and cupcakes of course!!  Until then, you can enjoy my adorbs black and white outfit with H, who also has allergies, but that's a story for another day!  Happy Monday loves!!

 Well kids...this weekend I became another year older...lucky me.  Bad news is I'm now 33, which is almost mid 30s, which is basically 40.  Good news is I don't look 33, so three cheers to that!!  Most of the weekend I spent relaxing which is always nice when you're an old lady like myself.  The best part though was taking xmas pics with J and H!  I can't wait to show you how they turned out.  There are always lots of laughs when J and I take pics together and this time was no exception.  Plus Henri and I had matching outfits which J couldn't stop making fun of, but I thought we were too cute!  We definitely got a few double takes from people walking by, but you know I love a little extra attention! 

And while you'll have to wait a bit longer to see those looks, today I'm sharing another one of my fave holiday looks that was featured on my GFB post for StyleLushTV.  I love this flirty skirt with a chunky turtleneck sweater, and black and white is always a win!  

 Guys... I have been wanting a leather jacket for forever, but it's been so hard to find one that I love.  Usually they are way to expensive for my budget at the time, or they are the wrong color, or they don't have the right fit...I kinda have man shoulders and big boobs which makes jacket shopping a pain in the ass.  But then we got this amazing vegan leather jacket at my boutique and it was love at first site.  I mean why get a black one when you can get this amazing eggplant wine color?  Plus it has such a cool texture to it and all the little details made it totally special.  And since it is vegan leather, which is fancy talk for faux leather, it was an amazing price...so it had to be mine!!  It definitely adds a wow factor to a simple black and white outfit and you know I love a good statement piece...actually several statement pieces at once which is why I added cheetah loafers and this awesome braided rope necklace that I got at a thrift store!  Who says you need to spend a fortune to look fab?

 Honestly you guys, I cannot remember the last time I wore anything even remotely form fitting.  I don't know if it's the Texas heat or the fact that I just want to always be as comfy as possible, but I literally live in oversized pieces.  I just feel like they work for me.  We all have things we hate about our bodies, and I definitely have my list of things...hello fat arms...but I think I've become a pro at dressing my body to hide my flaws.  And honestly I'm not sure how huge wide leg pants and a big flowy shirt make me look smaller, but it kinda does so I'm going with it.  Plus it's like wearing jammies during the day...and who doesn't want to spend their day look fab in their jammie jams?

 

 it's a week into the new year and what have i accomplished?  well lets see...i watched the entire first season of House of Cards on netflix in a day...yes that means i sat on my ass for about 13 hours straight.  i worked out twice...which for me is actually pretty good.  tested out some new recipes, which were quite delish if i do say so myself.  went on a double date with one of J's fellow officers...hooray for new friends!  and have done a little too much online shopping.
