saved by the kimono...

So as many of you know...or maybe you have no clue...in the fashion world, seasonal collections come out a few months before the actual season.  Now in normal parts of the universe, like back home in Illinois, this made a little more sense because they actually have seasons, but in the south it's kind of ridiculous because it is basically just hot...always hot...ugh it's the worst.  So at my boutique we just got in some "pre-fall" pieces which makes me so happy...like kid on xmas morning kind of happy...the only thing that might make me more excited is when target starts getting school supplies (which will be here any day now and I will talk all about it in another post)...but that happiness is kind of short lived because it's like...hooray we just got in this super cute velvet printed dress...and then you're like oh wait it's going to still be 100 degrees for the next 5 months...I literally live in hell...no joke.

However if you read this blog consistently or follow me on insta, then you know I have all the tricks for dressing for cold weather in the hot hot heat.  One of those tricks is chiffon kimonos in "fall" colors, like this one.  And if I layer it over a dark charcoal swing dress and add a cheetah mrd headband, you would think, hey this is the perfect october outfit, when really it's just july and I'm just doing my best to survive, but these are the things you do when fall is your fave time of year and in fashion land fall is coming basically next week.  So thank you fashion gods for giving me a glimmer of hope by providing me with sneak peeks of fall goodness, and suck it texas for being so damn hot!!

peplum tops and polka dots...

So my life has been a little stressful lately.  Thankfully a few of the big things that were causing some drama in my life are done with, but there is still the everyday stuff that's been really wearing me down...and all of that combined with the crazy summer heat has really just had me in the worst moods.  The littlest things set me off and most days I want to punch several people in the face multiple times, but it's something I'm aware of and really trying to work on, but it is not easy at all.

So in an effort to try and do something simple to brighten up my mood I've been trying, and mostly failing but still trying, to wear more colorful outfits.  It's easy to be a mega bitch when you're rockin' all black but it's a little harder to be mean when you're wearing pink polka dots and floral peplum tops.  Plus I love that this headband, made my me of course, gives this outfit more of a retro feel...and anything that makes my hair look cute in the humidity I will wear in a second!!

So if you have any tips for me, besides wearing colorful clothes, that can help with my stressed induced anger issues...god I sound like a crazy person...then please pass them along because I need all the help I can get right now!!  Thanks pretties!!!

is it fall yet???

Since it's going to be in the 90s this week I figured I better share this adorbs outfit from my shoot I had a few months ago for my SA Scene Magazine feature...because obvi, I'm rockin' a sweater and looking at these pics I'm already wishing summer was over!

One of the things I like the most about this outfit is the mix of textures and themes happening.  The fuzzy slouchy sweater, paired with the pleated midi skirt, and then the metal accessories and my fave free people boots!  It's hard and soft, girly and edgy, sweet and bitchy...so basically me!  So don't be afraid to pair things together that you think might not work.  It's a lot more fun to do something a little unexpected, than to play it safe...trust me!!

my dog is my valentine...

Happy Valentine's Day lovelies!!  Since J will be working I'll be spending my night with my other true love, Henri Oliver!!  And can we talk about how adorbs this Sincerely Jules graphic tee is?  I snagged it on sale and thought it would be perfect for V-Day!!  Paired with a midi pleated skirt and my fave free people booties (which J bought for me because he's the best hubby), and a big fat pink mrd bow, I have the perfect look to celebrate love!  Even H got in on the pink and red action with an mrd bloom!!  So wether you're having a romantic date night out on the town with the one you love, or are curled up on the couch with your fur baby and a glass of wine, I hope you have a lovely V-Day!!

kimonos and flares

Well friends it's Monday...and can I just say that I'm happy it's a new week.  My Winter (aka Summer in Texas) slump has taken over and I'm just no fun to be around.  I'm bored, and restless, and ready for a change that can't come fast enough.  So I'm hoping that this week will bring something new, something exciting, or at least a day that isn't a heat index of over 100 degrees...like a storm would be so great right now!  The only thing saving me right now is kimonos...they are a girl with fat arms dream in the summertime because you all know I won't be caught dead with just a tank top on.  And as much as I would love to be rockin' a sweater or a cute cardi I would literally be a puddle on the ground, but a kimono covers the arms, but most of the time is lightweight enough to not make you want to take a shower the second you step outside.  So thank you world for kimonos and lets hope this week is better than last.  Happy Monday!!
