follow the yellow brick road...

i was up super early this morning....
like too early.
but, i love taking a walk at that time...
it's like a whole different world outside.
everything is quite except for chirping birds and my feet against the pavement:)
so i thought i would share a few pics from my morning stroll....

my yellow brick road...

pretty blooms...

glistening river in the sunlight...

i hate bridges...

rain, rain, go away...

i heart trees...

love all of these colors...

and my fave part...are those leaves changing colors???

hope you can take a moment to enjoy the little things that surround you:)

and then there were two...

i'm not much of a crier....
to be honest, it kind of annoys me....
the puffy eyes
the snot
the black mascara tears
the not being able to breathe...
gross.

well...right now i have all of that.
my eyes are so puffy that it hurts to blink:(
i was literally sobbing while i was blow drying my hair this morning and then looked at myself and laughed a little because have you ever seen someone blow drying their hair and crying?
trust me, it's kinda funny...

why all of this sadness?
my little sister, laura, moved to connecticut today
(omg just typing that sentence i have tears running down my cheeks again)
she is following her heart and going to live with her boyfriend who goes to school in ct,
and while i'm happy for her to start a new adventure,
and proud of her for being so brave,
i feel like a part of me is missing...

so i've had my day of sadness...
and i already miss her like crazy,
but i'm not one to dwell on the sad,
so instead i'll share some of our fun crazy pics and know that she is happy...
which makes me smile:)

don't you love the many hair styles/colors of melis and laur?
that's not even half of them;)

and here she is all ready to go...

and then there were two....

we love you laur...always and forever:)

i know, i'm mean...BUT just because i can't tell you what's going on doesn't mean i can't SHOW you what it involves....

there's no place like home....

one of my besties, ann, is getting married this sept and i'm one of her lovely bridesmaids...yay!!!
i've already found my dress (we're wearing chocolate brown) and since ann is a shoe whore...like me...she wanted us each to pick fun fabulous shoes (in any color we want).

almost all of the other girls have their shoes, but i knew exactly what i wanted, yet couldn't find a pair that was just right.....
UNTIL.....
i was shopping at macy's with my mom and glanced over at the size 7 1/2 sale rack and there is my perfect shoe sparkling back at me....literally....SPARKLING....
the shoe god's were smiling down on me that day
and i was just laughing....because ann hates pink...and sparkles;)

they're like my ruby slippers...just pink...and extra fabulous:)

linking up with the amazing casey today:)

mmmmm cake pops!

so two of my besties have b-days back to back.
ann's is today and missy's is tomorrow...
and every year they have a joint bday party which has now been named "hotapalooza" which always has a dress up theme because who doesn't love a good costume party?
this year it's "cowboys and indians"
and since i love to bake (and am quite good at it) i always bring some type of tasty treat, so this year i made cake pops...yummmmmmmmmm!

they are super easy and super delish and i learned two things while making them....
1) i think everything looks better with sprinkles
2) i really need to invest in a good high quality camera lol

here's a quick step by step of what i did so you can make them at home:)
*first you need to bake a cake...duh...and it can be from scratch or a box...and let it cool*
*then you destroy the pretty cake and plop it into a big mixing bowl*

*lovely isn't it?  then i added a big scoop of chocolate frosting and a big scoop of nutella (aka the best thing ever invented) and got my hands dirty...literally....

*i formed the cake into a big ball and popped it in the fridge for about 15 min...then it was time to make some cake balls...the size of the balls are totes up to you;)

*next you want to melt your chocolate (i used wilton's candy melts in pink of course) and put your sprinkles in a bowl, if using them*

*these next steps don't have pictures because i was too involved in mastering my cake pop technique;)  once chocolate is melted you will take a candy stick (also by wilton) and dip about one inch in the melted chocolate and then insert into one of the cake balls.  once you do this with all of the cake balls the ones you started with should be good to cover.

*to coat your cake balls there really isn't a right or wrong way...i just spooned the melted chocolate over the cake balls while rotating the stick to make sure they were evenly coated and then spooned sprinkles over that right away before the chocolate hardened.  then you will plop the sticks into a styrofoam block while they cool and voila....you are a cake pop master!!!

simple, sweet, and seriously adorable!  happy bday to ann and missy...hopefully i will not eat all of these before your party tomorrow;)
