7 things...

Ugh why does Monday come so soon every week?  In attempt to be more consistent with my blogging and to make Monday not suck so much I'm going to share 7 happy things from the previous week...starting with these amazing new booties!  It's a little cray how shoes can make a girl so happy...especially when they are in a fun color!
Then there is this face.  I mean seriously I just love this face so much and anytime I can catch Henri smiling is a good thing since he tends to have resting bitch face like his mom...

J's bday was last week...which means for 2 months we're the same age...which is old and crusty.  And for his bday he wanted to go shooting.  This was only my second time shooting a gun, and I shot three different ones.  It's still scary, and I still don't like it, but it's a part of our lives now and so I'm trying my best to not be scared.  Good news is I hit the targets most of the time and my hair looked lovely that day.

My dad also came shooting with us and he was actually pretty good, which I probably shouldn't be surprised at because he's the kind of person that seems to be good at everything he tries even when it's totally something ridiculous and then we all just look at each other like how the hell did he know how to do that so well.

I started working on some new MRD's that will be in the shop this week.  Leather and beads and stones oh my!!

We have in so much cuteness at the day job that I just couldn't help but try everything on...and it true Cher Horowitz fashion I had to take selfies to see how everything really looked.  I think this shirt dress is a must have!

Oh...it's this face again...who hasn't had a bath in forever because his daddy keeps saying I'll do it tomorrow, and then this sweet little dog decided he wanted to take his walk thru the muddiest part of the grass and then guess who had to chase him around the apt and carry him into the tub and give him a bath...oh yeah that would be me...but honestly you can't be mad at that face.

Happy Monday loves!

my town is chi town...

Hey, hey, hey...what is this??  Yes...it is a second blog post in less than a week!  First of all thank you for all of your sweet words about my last post!  While lots of unfortunate things have happened this year a lot of good things happened as well...so I thought I could fill you in (you know all 4 of you that read this thing...hi grandma...) on the good things that happened, starting with CHICAGO!!
As I like to tell everyone I may ever meet...I am not from Texas.  I am not a southerner, I don't think y'all is a legit word, I'm not used to people shooting guns for fun, and big scary bugs, and sweet tea.  I am a midwestern girl and since moving to Texas I haven't been back to visit in almost 3 years!!!  I know, it's horrible, but there is this thing I like to call "Texas Time" where one minute it's January and then hello it's xmas like 2 weeks later...I blame it on no real season change...and then you're like wait it's been 3 years already...stupid Texas.

Anyway...my little bro Ian, was graduating from grad school and so it was the perfect excuse to get our little butts back home.  It was the perfect little escape from the Texas heat...I got to wear sweaters and scarves you guys...it was amazing...and we got some quality family time in (minus my seester who couldn't make it out, but she was there in spirit).

So a big fat congrats to Ian, for being a grad school rockstar!  I'm so proud of you and all that you have accomplished!  Now back to me...
So there was a Sprinkles Cupcake ATM.  Why they did not think of this sooner is beyond me.  So delish and so pink...
Also I found several opportunities to take outfit pics...which if you follow me on insta, and you definitely should be, then you've seen all of these.  This crazy bun was outta control let me tell you!!!
Oh yeah...and my youngest brother Austin turned 21!!!!  Talk about making me feel sooooo old....like really, really old.  And speaking of really old, we got to see my grandparents...hehe sorry guys it was an easy transition...

Always cheesin' it up...I love my family so much!

And while it was a great trip, I was definitely excited to get back to my little baby...who loved his present of course...ugh that face...gets me every time.  Plus it was easy to head back south because I knew I would be coming back...and sooner than even I thought...stay tuned...

the cure is love

Oh hey...remember that time when I said I was going to be much better at blogging and then I totally wasn't and then I said it again and then I totally lied...yeah well...I'm going to try this again...I mean first of the month, new start, right?  This year has literally been a hot mess...which is why I haven't blogged since...um January.  I mean, yes, good things have happened this year...which I'll fill you in on since I'm going to start blogging more regularly...or so I say...but a lot of shitty things have happened this year too...and I'm sure your wondering why there is a random cheesy pic of my dad trying on glasses at the top of this post...well here it goes...
Growing up, I remember that my dad worked...a lot...he almost always had two jobs so to be honest most of my memories from when I was younger were of him working.  My fave was when he had his own photography company and photographed weddings...and he would always bring me home a piece of wedding cake...or two...mmm cake!  This also explains my love of having my picture taken and knowing how to pose...thanks dad!  And even though I was the first born and the first girl, I never thought of myself as a "daddy's girl"...mainly because he was always working hard to provide for our family so I always felt closer to my mom.

Fast forward a million years later...when J and I moved to Texas after my parents moved here, it was different.  Since we lived with my parents for about a year, I got to see a different side of my dad and I guess reconnect in a way.  Our first year here was a tough one and he was always there to help me through it...from driving me around when I didn't have a car, to making me breakfast tacos, to standing up for me when I needed someone on my side...and he had always been that person...but I finally understood it...that the things he did and how he did it was how he was showing how much he loved me.  He isn't the overly emotional lovey dovey speak how you feel type like my mom, so while obviously I knew he cared, sometimes because I didn't hear it, I kind of took for granted all the amazing things he has done and continues to do for me and my family.

So without going into all the juicy detail of events that have happened over that past year, we recently found out a few weeks ago that my dad has Parkinson's Disease.  Now we have been very, very fortunate that while there have been bumps in the road with my immediate family we are all still alive and kickin' and haven't really had anything super scary to deal with...so this is a very big deal...a slightly scary deal that I don't think any of us have fully digested yet.   And while PD is not the worst diagnosis in the world, it is a disease that currently has no cure.

And while that is the last thing anyone wants to hear, we are going to stay strong as a family...because my dad spent his whole life taking care of us and now that is what we are going to do for him.  Many people live long, happy lives with PD and I know my dad will be one of those people.  And while we still have a lot to learn, I know that I have one amazing family, and we are going to do all that we can to support my dad and help raise money to help find a cure!

I found out that the awareness color for Parkinson's Disease is grey...which in my mind is the new black, so I've created a special line of MRD's all with a touch of grey, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to help find a cure for PD.  So if you love rockin' some grey this fall or if you just wanted to help find a cure, then go shop the TEAM CARLOS COLLECTION!!  And if you hate wearing gorgeous hair pretties, or money is super tight, then if you could say a little prayer, or shout out to the moon, or do a happy dance for my dad, I will love you forever!
If I've learned anything over this past year of "are you fucking kidding me" moments is that family is everything.  I am truly so blessed to have the best family...and while we're not all in the same place, I know that we have the strongest bond and that nothing will break us!  All you need is love, love is all you need.

hello again...

Why hello again blog world...did you miss me?  Remember that time when I changed my blog name and was all "I'm going to blog all the time, get ready"...and then I went strong for like a week and then oh wait...I haven't posted since september...oops!

My intention was there, but then again so was life.  So to quick recap what's been going on the past few months...

My sweet baby Henri, was diagnosed with heartworms...ugh worst news ever.  We took him in October for his yearly checkup and the test came back positive.  For those of you that aren't sure what heartworms are, they are basically worms that are in the heart of your dog...I know crazy right...but I bet you don't know how they get them...FROM MOSQUITOS!!!  I swear to God these texas mosquitos are no joke...and they need to die...a quick death.  The worst part is, we had Henri on monthly heartworm preventative meds (which all of you should be doing if you have fur babies)...and he still got it...fucking mosquitos...but the good news is he had the two scary injections and two months of crate rest...which was probably as hard on J and I as it was on H, but we all survived...and hopefully after getting 2 negative tests (over the next year), he will officially be heartworm free!!  Hooray!!

So during this madness, J and I also moved into a new apartment...which I'm still trying to decorate and get pics of so you can see how amazeballs it is...and you know what the best part is???  My parents moved into the same complex and are literally like 11 seconds away from me...awesome for my mom and I...even though I feel like I see her less now...tell me how that makes sense?!

And then all of a sudden it was the holidays...which I was extra excited about because all of my siblings haven't been together since the xmas before so we had many days of laughter and eating and taking selfies of course!  It was perfect!
And I'm still slaving away at Apricot Lane...which I still love!  I mean hello...I get paid to take selfies in cute clothes...and I really need to stop saying selfies...ugh.

And since it's been winter time and Henri is still in recovery, J and I have made sure to give him extra snuggles.  Plus our new gorgeous gray stained concrete floors in our apt are FREEZING...like literally walking on an ice skating rink...so any chance to snuggle and stay warm is taken!!
And yes things have been a little quiet on the MRD front lately.  With everything happening I just needed a little break.  I needed to get my thoughts together on what I wanted and where I wanted to go with the line, and just take time to be with my family and friends...but don't you worry...last weeks new Hart of Dixie featured yet another MRD and that gave me just the spark I needed to get working on the new spring line...which I'm hoping to launch Feb 1st....Woohoo!!!
And because Henri is obviously the love of my life...and so photogenic...I leave you with his sad puppy dog eyes and a promise that you'll be hearing from me a lot more this year.  2015 has already started out kinda rough...for reasons we can ponder another time...but I'm the type of person that doesn't let obstacles slow me down.  Give me a challenge and I will challenge it right back...and come out on top...so get ready...this is my year!

wrinkly shirts

Here I go again...failing on the blog...ugh.  Life has just been so cray lately.  My sister was in town for a week so that was spent eating, and being silly, and going to the beach (more on that later), and taking TONS of pics for the launch of her new line, MO & PEA, which is super exciting and you should definitely go check it out!

On top of that we started doggie training again with Henri which seriously is the most stressful thing ever.  Where is Caesar when you need him?  Dog training was not meant for impatient people and I'm prob the most impatient person ever...it's gonna be a long 6 weeks.

AND J and I are getting ready to move to a new apt in a month.  And while I can't wait to get to our new place, it's the whole having to go through all of the "stuff" that we've accumulated over the past year and getting rid of most of that "stuff".  Seriously I don't know why I buy half the things I buy when I just end up throwing it away or donating it.

So the blogging might be random and sporadic over the next month with all of this going on...and please ignore my items of clothing that I obviously didn't have time to steam...yay for wrinkly shirts!
